About the authors

James Lawley
gave up his career as a senior manager in a multinational company not knowing what he was going to do with the rest of his life. He retrained in NLP, which enabled him and his wife, Penny Tompkins, to model innovative psychotherapist David Grove. They formalised David’s brilliant clean approach and for more than 20 years have continued to develop the field and help extend its application into coaching, education, organisations and, more recently, research.

James is the author of Metaphors in Mind (9780953875108).

Marian Way started her working life as a maths teacher and went on to work for Weight Watchers, where she and a colleague developed the Points Diet. She also created and delivered training programmes for people at all levels within the organisation.

When she came across NLP and Clean Language, Marian transitioned to a third career as a clean coach and trainer. She now delivers training in many of David Grove’s clean approaches, as well as Systemic Modelling – a method for using Clean Language with groups, devised by her business partner, Caitlin Walker. Marian is the author of Clean Approaches for Coaches (9780957486607).
