This book maintains that through the use of rhetorical criticism, Paul’s argument in Romans 9–11 can be understood as both literarily and theologically coherent. Kim demonstrates that Paul uses forensic rhetoric in these chapters to refute the claim that God’s word has failed and to prove the faithfulness of God. In analyzing the structure of Paul’s argument, Kim shows Paul’s extensive use of the theory of stasis with the result that his thesis is advanced in a cogent and forceful manner to his audience.
