Binding Hardback
Publication Date December, 1999

This volume completes Wevers’s series of verse by verse analyses of the Septuagint translation of the books of the Pentateuch. The Septuagint is the earliest extant interpretation of the Torah and stems from the Jewish community in Alexandria in the third century BCE. This grammatical and analytical study is intended to help the reader to see how the Greek translator understood the Hebrew text. It will be especially helpful to those who wish to use the Greek intelligently but are not specialists in Hellenistic Greek or LXX studies.

John William Wevers is Professor Emeritus of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Toronto.
