Words can harm or charm, hurt or heal.  This is a book about the conscious use of words for healing, for helping others to feel good about themselves, and to provide hope to those who are troubled. Since changing an attitude, a feeling, or a perspective can have direct physical effects on a person’s suffering, either emotional or physical, it behooves us as professionals to use language in such a way that it has a positive effect on our patients so that it enhances these effects.
